G. B. KULIKOVA. Improvement of Soviet Democracy at the Developed Socialism Stage.

The author takes as her subject the process of deepening and consistent development of the Soviet society's real democratism at the stage of developed socialism. She singles out main trends of the CPSU activity in this field, discusses concrete results of the quantitative and qualitative growth of the Soviet people's activity, and first and foremost, of the working class, its leading force, in the everyday management and administration through various elements of the Soviet political system: elected bodies of popular power - Soviets of People's Deputies, public organisations and People's Inspection.

A. YU. BORISOV. Historic Agreements (the 40th Anniversary of the Yalta and Potsdam Conferences).

The article demonstrates the significance of the Crimea (Yalta) and Berlin (Potsdam) 1945 conferences for the development of international relations today. The author shows that the agreements reached at that time by the Allies were historically necessary, they were conditioned by the entire military and political situation that took shape towards the end of the Second World War, the allignment of forces in the Anti-Hitler Coalition and the growing international prestige of the Soviet Union. The author exposes bourgeois falsifiers who seek to distort the results of the Yalta and Potsdam conferences, to present them as an "error of history". He clearly demonstrates that this position is intimately connected with political claims of imperialist circles striving to revise the Allied agreements.

HAJI MURAT IBRAGIMBEILI. The Great Liberatory Mission of the USSR in Central and Southeastern Europe.

The article deals with some aspects of the liberatory mission of the Soviet Armed Forces in Central and Southeastern Europe during the Second World War. The author describes internationalist assisstance rendered by the USSR to patriotic forces of other countries which consisted, apart from the armed struggle waged by the Soviet Union, in raising of Polish, Czechoslovak, Rumanian, Yugoslav units on Soviet territory, which received their armaments from the USSR. The Soviet country provided material aid to all peoples freed by the Red Army from the fascist yoke, including the German people. The article exposes Sovietological falsifications.

J. S. LURIA. On Methods of Source Analysis (Case-Study of Old Russian Written Sources).

The author uses 15th - 17th-century material to demonstrate a possibility of resorting to clearly tendentious writings and later sources for the study of concrete facts. Their use cannot be based on the "presumption of innocence" of such sources similar to the legal principle.. The sources should be regarded not as defendants, but as eyewitnesses. An analysis of reliabilty of a source and its completeness should serve the task of fact-finding.

V. I. DANILOV. Political Struggle in Turkey: Main Trends and Specific Features (the 1950s - Early 1980s).

The author analyses main stages and specific features of the multi-party system in Turkey and of bourgeois political pluralism based on the developing multi-structural Eastern society. He considers social bases, programmes and certain aspects of practical activity of major bourgeois and legal left parties which were active in Turkey. Political activity of the Turkish Army, the socio-economic and political mainsprings of its political actions in May 1960 - March 1971 and September 1980 and the nature of the subsequent "transition periods" came under scrutiny. Both the development patterns of the newly free countries and the specificities of Turkey's historical evolution account for the specific political struggle in the country.
