Nigeria's own stamps have been issued since 1914. The first commemorative stamps appeared in 1935. The first postal block was issued in 1963. On the occasion of the declaration of independence of Nigeria on 01.10.1960, a series of commemorative stamps was issued.

The main wealth of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is oil and gas. Two brands of 2 and 8 kobo are dedicated to the development of this industry. The government has put forward a program for the development of agriculture "Let's feed ourselves". This is reflected in the miniatures in 1, 5, 15, 18 kobo. These postage signs are dedicated to leather making and cattle breeding, sugar cane cultivation and palm oil production.

Laboratory for the production of medicines to combat smallpox, tropical fever on the brand in 20 kobo.

About the beauty of the country and folk crafts tell brands in 50 kobo and others.

Stamps at 3, 25 kobo and 1 naira show a cement factory, port facilities and a bridge in the Nigerian capital, Lagos.

Due to extensive construction and increased agriculture, the number and diversity of the animal world has sharply decreased. Elephants, rhinos, giraffes and other animals are already scarce in the savanna. Stamps in denominations of 10, 20, 25 kobo and others depict a turtle, crocodile, cheetahs, zebra.
